Why Does My Child Need Medication?

Dec 23, 2013

Some Information on Your First Day of ADHD Treatment

The medication children are prescribed is a way to reduce some of the symptoms to help with trouble at school and their ability to concentrate. Medications aren't the only treatment, though. Since behavioral therapy focuses on the behaviors occurring and acceptable behaviors, it's a good idea to practice the type of behaviors that your child will learn in behavioral therapy as well. You should have a few routines that you have listed somewhere to help your child see you going through each portion of the routine. This will model a routine for your child but also help your child stay organized as well. You and your child can also create goals separately and together and agree on the end result of completing those goals.
